Austin Commercial relocated state of the art baggage screening equipment from its post-9/11 lobby location into a properly designed back-of-house space at Terminals 2 and 4 at Ontario airport. To accomplish this, the existing enclosures were extended on grade toward the airfield and the baggage conveyor systems were reconfigured in the larger space. Additional walkway segments were added to the impacted passenger boarding bridges, allowing travelers to pass over the new structure as they walked to their plane. Implemented while ONT was under the management of Los Angeles World Airports, this project was the beginning of the long and successful collaboration between Austin Commercial and LAWA.
